Short notes this week, as the first batch only went out on Monday. Quite a fun week, further client meetings clarifying the scope of a piece of strategy work, which seems to be progressing well. Plus meetings with a new client today, which might take me into iOS product origination, which seems like it will be quite interesting. Bought my flights to SXSW too.
Various bits of banking and finance work got done too, should you ever decide to VAT register, it takes about two weeks to get a business bank account setup and to get the account number, then probably about the same to get a VAT number. So it'll be about a month before I have that all setup. I did some more experimenting with Freeagent and found some iPhone apps which let me do expenses entry there and then. Lastly I discovered that my (non-commuting to the BRIG) journeys by Brompton count as expenses, each mile is 20p. Whether I keep logging each journey to a client is debatable, but I was surprised.
On the cycling front I rode about 50 odd miles this week and discovered the joy of zone 1 bicycle commuting, dodging taxis, trucks and buses while holding a haze of tube exit geography of London and half-remembered Google map directions in mind. Certainly leaves you feeling alive when the meeting starts.
Next week consists of finalising some proposals, then starting proper work with two clients and if I have time getting to revamping gavinbell.com which lost out to the fixing of the adsl this week. I also need to drum up an audience for the SXSW core conversation I'm running on post-cognitive psychology and the social web.
